Be ready to ride at 2 PM
NO RIDE SEPTEMBER 1 DUE TO LABOR DAY HOLIDAY!
We will start at 2:00 PM at the parking lot of Forest Lawn Cemetery, at the corner of Grand and Broad. Typically we will ride north to the Hudson Mills Metropark (5 miles), ride a loop around the park (3 miles) and return to the parking lot for a total of 13 miles. Ride is flat and paved with some boardwalk.
Drinks and pizza at Aubree's after the ride on your own dime. We plan to ride every Monday, weather permitting. Feel free to email Laura with questions.
Dogs on a leash are allowed.
Tip! Park at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, end of Grand Street.
After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we’ll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing.
Meet at 2:00 PM on Wednesday afternoons all summer at the Zukey Lake Tavern parking lot (5011 Girard Drive, Pinckney, MI). We've been given permission to park our cars at the far end of the parking lot (just as you enter off Girard, and before the first speed bump), with the assumption that most of us will stay to enjoy refreshments after the ride.
We'll pedal east to Whitmore Lake Road, then turn back, pedaling west to the end of the paved trail before returning to the parking lot (a total of about 23 miles round trip on the paved, predominately flat trail).
After returning to our cars, and loading our bikes, we'll gather on the roof-top deck at Zukey Lake Tavern for apres-pedal refreshments and socializing. NOTE: There's no live music on the deck, this year, but plenty of smiles. . .
Music in the Air!

River Trip Information:
Cataract Canyon through Canyonlands National Park is a journey into a spectacular, remote wilderness. This quality multi-faceted adventure is the ideal balance of serenity, fascination, and exhilaration – it will elevate your life. Between mid-May and mid-June, Cataract Canyon has some of the biggest and most challenging whitewater in the United States. This is a thrill seeker's dream, with stunningly powerful rapids. For those seeking “moderate” excitement, trips in late summer feature rapids that are big fun rolling waves. Spend your days rafting through the pristine Colorado River canyons; as early evening draws near, pull up to a private beach that we will transform into our river hotel. While guests finish setting up their tents, the guides will set up the kitchen and prepare a delicious dinner.
At night we will enjoy stories under the starlight as we commiserate with the guides and fellow guests.
Sample Itinerary:
Pre-Trip Orientation: 5:00 pm the day BEFORE departure: We will meet at the Sheri Griffith Expeditions Office, located at 2231 South Highway 191 in Moab. Day 1 7:30 AM -- Meet at Sheri Griffith Expeditions Office 2231 South Highway 191 in Moab. Your bags will be loaded onto the boats, your cars will be parked safely in our fenced and gated yard, and your valuable will be safely stored before you load into the van or bus for the ride to the put-in.
8:00 am -- Depart for Cataract Canyon. There is a 45 minute drive from Moab to the Potash Boat Ramp, where we will start our river journey.
8:30 am -- We will arrive at the Potash Boat Ramp, where we will put on and size the PFDs (Personal Floatation Devices). We will have a brief safety discussion and then board the boats and start our journey.
Mid-day -- We will stop for a "Build Your Own" Sandwich Buffet lunch at one of the beaches along the river.
4:00 pm -- We’ll pull over for the evening and set up camp. Guests will set up their own tents and sleeping gear while the guides work on setting up the kitchen and “living room” and then start dinner. After camp is set up, guests are welcome to play games, explore a bit or relax.
Day 2-5 7:00 am -- First Coffee Call. Everyone starts working on waking up and then packing up your personal items. Guests will start to break camp while the guides prepare a delicious breakfast.
8:00 am -- Breakfast is served. After breakfast we will finish breaking camp and load the boats.
Mid-Day -- We’ll stop for a delicious lunch and possibly a hike or two.

Day 5 -- Today we will pass through the final rapids and enter the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Lake Powell. We may have some time for hiking, and we will use a motor to push the final few miles to the take out on Lake Powell.
4:00 PM** -- Land at North Wash boat ramp. Guests and their bags will be transported to the airstrip for the return flight.
5:00 PM** -- Board the planes and head back to Moab. The flight takes about 45 minutes.

One excellent way to get to know the club and meet members, or to learn what's new in the club is to come to a General Meeting.
The fun typically includes ice-breaking conversation over snacks and beverages followed by dancing to a DJ's tunes, with the business conducted in-between. Some nights more business happens, but on a typical evening it's concluded in about 30 minutes leaving plenty of time for entertainment. What kind of business? Filling up trips! Announcing trips, answering questions. Also, announcing and answering questions regarding upcoming events. And asking and answering questions!

The Details
We play a casual and friendly 5-round game with a different partner for each round.
Euchre season begins again in just 3.5 weeks! Due to a number of factors, attendance is now largely comprised of non-club members. This was never the intent of our Euchre event; it was always intended to be a fun evening of camaraderie and socializing around a friendly and casual game of cards where one could meet fellow members who also enjoy the game.
Starting Sept 20, Euchre Night will be a Members Only event held in my home, with a new buy-in price of $5. I will provide some very light snacks, but please eat dinner before arriving and BYOB. Please plan to pay your $5 at the door and bring quarters for euchres.
Due to space, we are limited to 19 players (4 tables w/3 sitting out per game) with sign-ups on the website beginning 2 weeks before the event. There will also be a waitlist if it is full when you try to sign up.
Please be courteous to others by cancelling your sign-up ASAP if you cannot make it; by doing so, the next person on the waitlist will automatically be moved onto the player list.
Let’s play cards!

Ski one of the true heavyweights of alpine skiing in the western Austrian Alps

While the steep and deep remains St Anton's big draw, it also has a lot to offer more leisurely skiers, particularly with its recent links to the ski area of neighboring Lech-Zürs.
With its formidable expert terrain, impressive snow record and legendary après-ski, St Anton-am-Arlberg is one of the true heavyweights of alpine skiing. St Anton-am-Arlberg is located in the Tirol province of the western Austrian Alps. St Anton is often described as being in the “Arlberg” region - not an official region per se, but rather an umbrella term used for the collective marketing of the resorts of St Anton, Lech-Zürs and Warth-Schröcken. Skiing in St Anton takes place on both sides of the valley. To the south, Rendl is a small and uncrowded area of skiing ideal for all levels of skier, which sits both above and below the treeline on mostly north-facing slopes. The bulk of St Anton’s slopes are on its north side, however, which is split into three areas (Gampen, Valluga and Galzig). These mostly south-facing slopes are accessed by several different lifts both close to the village centre and further down the valley. This side is also home to most of the resort’s legendary off-piste. From Galzig, you can also ski over to Stuben, which then provides an onwards link to Lech-Zürs.
Trip Includes:
