Meeting Tomorrow!

Please join us at the General Meeting tomorrow,

Thursday, February 19 at 7 pm at the UA Hall. The meeting will include:

A very brief business meeting (before the fun begins!)
Music Bingo (for about an hour), hosted by Jim Kelly
Dancing to music by DJ Jim (Kelly)
Pizza and other snacks, plus the usual beverages

If you have a red ski club shirt or hoodie, please wear it!

Winter is (was) finally here. Last month we enjoyed a wonderful, snowy weekend at Schuss “Mountain” for the instructional.

This month, we had a combined XC/Downhill trip at the Terrace Inn. This was coming on the heels of an XC trip to Stokely. A few hardy souls made both trips, but the timing probably resulted in slightly fewer XC people on both trips. We had cold weather and good snow for the weekend, and I think everyone had a good time. Belinda Plank, who has been at the Inn for as long as I have been going, is leaving this month. We will certainly miss her. She is a great person and always friendly and cheerful.

The St. Anton trip also concluded last month. I didn’t go, but all those who did go had a really good time.

We have penciled in a few dates for our Michigan trips in 2027. We are looking at the Instructional on January 8-10 and the Terrace Inn trip for January 29-31. Scheduling is getting trickier every year, with our shortened winters and numerous January and February holidays that result in crowded slopes and increased lift ticket pricing. Additionally, we are trying to not step on our Western trips. Which is a great segue to….

We have settled on some stellar locations for our Western trips in 2027. They are ALL top tier destinations. We are currently getting quotes on Whistler at the beginning of February, Snowmass for Late February and Vail for early March. These resorts are all at the top of everyone’s list of favorites. A huge thank you to Jim Kelly for pulling this all together. Be sure to buy him a beer at Music Trivia Night.

Elections: Are coming up on April 30. The president job is nominally open, as I transition to “Past President”. We currently have one person willing to take on this role. The deadline for nominations for president is 25 days before the election, or March 26.

Additionally, there are 4 board positions up for election this year; 2-3 current board members are planning to run for re-election. (Board member nominations are open until the election begins on the evening of April 30.) If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact any board member to discuss the process.

The Spring Bike & Hike Weekend to Cuyahoga Valley National Park is scheduled for May 22-24, 2026 (Memorial Day Weekend). Lodging will be at the Holiday Inn Express, Richfield, OH.
