Looking for people to help organize events!

Ski season might be over…but the fun continues.

We are looking forward to bike rides and happy hours but with your help as volunteers the possibilities are almost endless.

Thoughts include kayaking & canoeing, biking, COMBINED biking and kayaking “Pedal & Paddle” events, hiking, golf, pickleball or other fun ideas.

We’re trying a new “roll-your-own” process to make it MUCH easier for trip/event leaders. You just set a date, time and location for people to show up. . . If it’s an out-of-town, overnight event, just suggest a motel where participants can make their own reservations and travel arrangements. You don’t have to handle money, collect registration forms, buy food, or arrange transportation – basically just come up with the idea.

Please contact Alternative Trip Chair, Joe Knopp, or Activities Coodinators Vicki Watson and Darlene Morin with any ideas you have, or any questions on how to get the events set up.

              Dennis Slough Memorial

Dennis Slough was near and dear to many in the Ann Arbor Ski Club and his love for the club was undeniable. He served in many capacities, including past President and Website Administrator.

In his honor the club has made a donation to the National Parks Foundation.

You are invited to his memorial on Saturday, June 10 at 4 pm at LIVE. Please click here for more information.

              Change in Newsletter Distribution

Want to keep getting this newsletter?

              • If you are a dues-paying member, you’re all set.
              • If not, please click here to join.
Membership benefits also include the ability to sign up for trips, plus free attendance at regular meetings & picnics (guests pay $5), and $5 to attend parties with a band (guests pay $10).

This change will start to take effect in June and should be completed by mid-August.

Non-members will be able to read the newsletter on the Ski Club home page but will not receive it via email.

              Questions? Please contact Todd Newman.

FYI – this change will save the Ski Club about $1,200 per year!

                  Change in Membership Dues

Membership dues will be changed from $20 to $30 for the 2023-24 membership year. (We have had a $20 reduction in the standard $40 annual dues for a number of years.) Dues for the 2024-25 year will be $40.

The membership term is from May 1 to April 30. Anyone who joins or renews their membership within 60 days of May 1 will have their membership expire on April 30 of the following year.

                      Rewards Program to be Discontinued

As we go into the new 2023-24 membership year on May 1, we will be discontinuing the Rewards program. Anyone with volunteer reward points will be able to redeem them until the Corn Roast on August 27. After this date, the A2 ski club will open a club store where different items can be purchased.

Please contact Lisa Salisbury to redeem your points for merchandise and also find out how many you have. Click here to see the rewards flyer.

                          IKON & Epic Passes

Sports America offers us a portal for buying IKON and EPIC passes. See the links below. We get a 6% rebate on your purchase price that is applied to the cost of any ski trips you take next year.  If you have questions, contact Jim Kelly.

Please note that for some trips, including Snowmass/Aspen, buying lift tickets as part of the trip package, will be MUCH cheaper than buying an IKON pass.

The Ann Arbor Ski Club has a mobile app.  It runs on IOS and Android.  Jeff Crawford has written a nice piece on how to download the app.

Members have reported problems with the app.  An upgrade will correct the issue.  You have to delete it from your phone, then reload.
